Our Origin
Twenty Years in the Making
The story began in 2005, in a country that had just opened its doors to a generation of foreign companies — engineering firms, infrastructure contractors, and security partners — all racing to rebuild Iraq's water systems, sewers, hospitals, and schools.
What our founder noticed was striking: every foreign company was lost in the same maze. They needed a place to work from, a permit to operate, equipment to mobilize, a translator to explain, a lawyer to register, a partner to navigate. They were forced to assemble — alone — a chain of five or six different vendors, in a country whose language and bureaucracy they were still learning.
So we began offering one piece at a time. Logistics first. Then equipment. Then legal representation. Then real estate. Then technology. With each contract, with each company we served, we understood the next missing piece. And one quiet realization formed:
What if every piece sat under one roof? What if a foreign CEO, the moment they typed "Iraq" into their browser, could find a single trusted door — one that opens to logistics, law, land, technology, and counsel, all at once?

Founding Partner — Engineering & Strategy
Engineer. Programmer. Lawyer.
Founded Tigris Gate on the conviction that foreign companies deserve a single, multidisciplinary partner. Leads engineering oversight, strategic direction, and digital infrastructure.
Ali Hassan Al-Obeidi
Founding Partner — Legal Practice
Heads the legal practice and oversees major engagements. Specializes in corporate structuring, regulatory affairs, and complex commercial matters.
Eng. Ali Karim Al-Hassani
Founding Partner — Software & Systems
Leads the firm's technology arm. Architects the project accounting and e-archiving systems, and oversees software platforms adapted to the Iraqi business context.
Beyond the founding partners, Tigris Gate is supported by 6 additional senior specialists — covering tax & compliance, real estate, litigation, operations, and infrastructure — and a wider team of more than 25 administrative staff, drivers, technicians, and field operators. A regional director coordinates our operations in Basra, and our entire team is prepared to deploy across all Iraqi governorates for engagements lasting weeks or months.

Why Tigris Gate?
Nearly four thousand years ago, on this same land, a Babylonian king carved into stone what would become humanity's oldest known legal code — the laws of Hammurabi.
"To bring about justice in the land," the inscription read, "so that the strong should not harm the weak." The principle has not aged. Foreign companies entering Iraq today stand in an asymmetry: unfamiliar terrain, unfamiliar rules, unfamiliar language. Our work, in its quietest essence, is to make that asymmetry survivable — through clarity, documentation, and a partner who knows the ground.
